Imaginarium Sanitarium
In 2023, I worked with Imaginarium Sanitarium, a local haunted attraction company based in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The company specializes in designing and constructing seasonal haunts throughout Blair County. I joined the team after returning to Penn State in August, assisting with the construction and offering input on design and structural decisions. The attraction was built on the Go-Kart track at Lakemont Amusement Park, which presented several unique challenges due to the outdoor layout. While most of the haunt was open-air, additional scenes and scare zones were housed inside inflatable tents.
The theme for that year’s haunt centered on classic Halloween monsters—vampires, mummies, witches, clowns, and eerie dolls. Although I was unable to participate fully in the final setup because of academic commitments, I worked as an actor during operating hours and continuously noted areas for improvement. In my spare time, I created a new ambient soundtrack for the mummy’s tomb scene and reconfigured the lighting to better illuminate the exterior. I also contributed to the company’s social media presence by capturing photos, creating videos, and designing promotional content.
