Ghost Ship
While working at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey, I served as the Ghost Ship Assistant Supervisor during the 2023 and 2025 seasons. The Ghost Ship is a walk-through haunted attraction that had closed in 2020 due to the pandemic, and I played a key role in its reopening in 2023. Although I was not involved in the attraction’s original design, I was instrumental in restoring it to meet updated safety and operational standards. I conducted multiple daily inspections to ensure compliance, verifying that exit signs were illuminated, emergency flashlights were available, guide lights and animations were fully functional, fire extinguishers were up to code, and all costumes and makeup supplies were properly maintained. Additionally, I trained the majority of the 2023 and 2025 cast members on evacuation procedures, opening inspections, and guest safety protocols, ensuring professional and safe interactions while in character.
Because the attraction was located on a busy boardwalk, not all guests entered with the intent to be scared. This required staff to identify which guests were receptive to the experience and to anticipate potential reactions. When guests became disruptive or distressed, I was responsible for resolving the issue—whether by escorting them from the attraction, assisting frightened guests with evacuation, or addressing inappropriate behavior toward actors or staff. I also managed administrative duties, including actor scheduling, break coordination, and personnel documentation. Furthermore, I oversaw performance quality by monitoring radio etiquette, enforcing operational standards, and providing corrective feedback when necessary to maintain a safe and professional environment.
In the 2025 season, the Morey’s Piers administrative team invited me to design and lead a Ghost Ship-specific in-service training program. In the previous year, many Ghost Ship actors had not found the standard ride-operator training inservice relevant to their roles, and leadership recognized my expertise and enthusiasm for haunted attractions. I developed a custom in-service presentation that covered both housekeeping procedures and performance-specific training for actors. Given that more than half of the cast were international students unfamiliar with American haunted attraction culture, I focused on educating them about industry expectations and effective scare acting techniques. Below is an example of the presentation I created to support this training initiative.

In 2025, due to a shortage of makeup artists for the Ghost Ship attraction, I began learning special effects makeup and assisted the experienced staff in the makeup room. Below are some examples of the makeup work I completed for the Ghost Ship.
