The Scarecrow

The plan

Build a tall, spooky scarecrow for Halloween.

The parameters

Must be really tall
Must be able to be taken apart to store in the attic
Must look really spooky

With the arms up, it is about 15 feet tall.

The result

The main structure is made from PVC pipe and covered with corn stalks. I put screws or nails through the joints to keep it together and to keeps the arms raised. Using these instead of PVC cement also allows me to take apart and store it easily. It’s held up by fence posts in the ground and then screwed to the PVC.
