Assistant Attractions Supervisor
From 2022 through 2025, I worked at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, New Jersey, serving as an Assistant Attractions Supervisor at Mariner’s Pier. In the 2023 and 2025 seasons, I additionally held the position of Assistant Supervisor for the Ghost Ship attraction. Morey’s Piers operates three amusement piers along the Wildwood boardwalk, with Mariner’s Pier serving as the main amusement area. Each pier is divided into operational zones overseen by individual supervisors, and I was responsible for one such zone comprising seven attractions: Airplanes, Balloon Race, Carousel, Elephants, Kite Flyer, Henekee, and Wild Whizzer. I was also trained to operate Baby Venice, Wave Swinger, Pirates of Wildwood, and Ghost Ship. My primary responsibilities included maintaining an active presence within my zone, overseeing ride operators, and ensuring safe and efficient operations in compliance with International Ride Training (IRT) standards.
Morey’s Piers participates in IRT audits, conducted by a third-party organization that emphasizes the ten critical components of safe and effective ride operations outlined in the International Ride Operator Certification (iROC) program. The park has earned the iROC Audit Excellence Award for five consecutive years. A key aspect of my role was ensuring that all ride operators consistently met these operational standards, as IRT conducts two audits per season. In 2023, I completed the IRT Trainer Certification Course, becoming qualified to lead iROC training sessions for ride operators. This certification process included a 16-hour instructional course, a written exam, and a “teachback” assessment demonstrating expertise of the Eight Great Presentation Skills.
In addition to conducting ride trainings, inspections, and operator audits, my position required strong communication skills and professionalism. I maintained proper radio etiquette, addressed guest concerns with composure, and reported maintenance issues discreetly to avoid guest disruption. I was also responsible for responding to operational irregularities and overseeing evacuation procedures when necessary. As a supervisor, I worked directly with the maintenance team to identify and clarify issues, perform test cycles, verify and sign off on maintenance repairs, and ensure that all solutions were completed thoroughly and safely.
